WEST WARWICK – The West Valley Inn served its last takeout order on Sunday and is now closed for business.
Buyers interested in the West Valley Inn property have until Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. to present their offer in writing.
Nancy Thomas, president of Tapestry Communications, which is handling publicity for the longtime restaurant at 4 Blossom St., said approximately a half-dozen potential buyers have come forward, and a few are interested in continuing it as a dining facility.
“The highest and best offer” is being sought, and potential buyers also have to show documentation that they have the financing to make the purchase, she said.
Said Jeff Butler, of Butler Realty ReMAX, who is representing the West Valley Inn, “This is done many times with properties that have multiple offers, and is the fairest and quickest way to give everyone an equal shot at purchasing. Of course the preference (and best value in my opinion) would be to sell to someone who would operate a similar venue, as opposed to development, where everything would be disbanded.”
Butler said the buyer could take over operations as soon as the closing is completed.
The nearly 12-acre property is for sale for $1.5 million. The restaurant has been in business since 1978 and is operated by the Correia family. It’s been for sale for approximately a year, and Thomas characterized the decision to sell as “a business decision.”

Deposits were returned to brides planning a wedding there, and the venue worked with those who wanted assistance in finding an alternate location for their wedding, Thomas said.
