A study conducted by a University of Rhode Island economist found that the permitting, construction and operation of wind turbines within a half-mile of homes did not have a statistically significant effect on the value of the real estate in the Ocean State.
Economist Corey Lang studied the effects of a dozen turbines in the context of the sale prices of 48,000 homes in Rhode Island during the last 15 years. His results found a 0.4 percent decline in property values, which was within the study’s margin of error.
Given the results of the study, how would you feel if a turbine were to be built within a short distance of your home?
