‘Wheel of Fortune’ gives to Hasbro

PROVIDENCE – The game show “Wheel of Fortune” donated $10,000 to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in March.
For the first time in Wheel of Fortune’s 32 seasons, the popular game show produced two weeks of shows that directly benefitted a charity through its fourth annual “Secret Santa Sweepstakes.”
During the 10-day sweepstakes last winter, more than 10 million viewers tuned in nightly and a total of $435,655 was raised for distribution among Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the country, which includes the gift to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
Michaela Johnson and Will Gilbert, hosts of The Rhode Show on WPRI-12, the local affiliate of CBS that broadcasts Wheel of Fortune, presented the gift.
“We are so grateful to receive this gift and for our local Wheel of Fortune viewers to have selected Hasbro Children’s Hospital as the beneficiary to help children in their communities,” said Dr. Patricia Flanagan, interim pediatrician-in-chief for Hasbro Children’s Hospital. “Every dollar of this donation will directly support treatments and services for those we care for.”
Hasbro, which is a part of the Lifespan health care system, is a pediatric facility for clinical care, research and education for Rhode Island and southeastern New England. It is the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital, which is the principal teaching hospital of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown
