William E. Smith, chief justice of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island, has been elected chair of Roger Williams University School of Law’s board of directors. He also serves on the Board for Family Service of Rhode Island and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Smith graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center, as well as Georgetown University as a George F. Baker Scholar. •
