Wings without the mess

What if every time you picked up a fried chicken wing, or a sticky corn-on-the-cob, you didn’t have to lick your fingers clean or waste paper napkins cleaning up?

Delicate, finger-protecting slip-ons, Wingerz, are now available for sale. The invention and company, founded by Michael and Michelle LeFrancois, of Lincoln, are intended to save people the aggravation of messy fingers, while reducing paper waste.

Introduced in December, the product is being marketed to restaurants in Rhode Island, explained Michael LeFrancois, as well as being sold online at www.getwingerz.com.

The see-through, disposable protectors, used in sets of three to cover the thumb, index and middle fingers, cost $5 for a roll of 30 sets.

The couple had their “ah-ha” moment in 2012, after eating out at a restaurant, enjoying wings, and then realizing on the drive home that they still had the odor on their fingertips, despite washing up.

“I could still smell the hot sauce,” he said. •
