PROVIDENCE – Special pricing from Jan. 11 to Jan. 24 will be offered at about 80 restaurants in Rhode Island and one Massachusetts town through Winter Restaurant Weeks, with some locations incorporating a Girl Scout cookie promotion.

Martha Sheridan, president and CEO of the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau, which runs the twice-yearly event, said the weeks have become a local tradition in the decade since they began.

“As the city’s culinary reputation has grown nationally, so has the opportunity to affordably sample some of the best restaurants in the country,” she said.

Held in January and July, the two-week period provides special three-course, prix fixe menus that can be found at www.ProvidenceRestaurantWeeks.com. Diners will be able to choose from prix fixe lunches for $14.95 and prix fixe dinners for $29.95 and $34.95. The visitors bureau, one of four sponsors, posts them for participating restaurants, said Kristen Adamo, vice president of marketing and communications for the visitors bureau.
The other sponsors are Taco, Navigant Credit Union and Yuengling Beer.
The visitors bureau also is partnering with the Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England to promote their annual cookie sale. Some restaurants will be offering cocktail and dessert specials that incorporate popular Girl Scout cookie varieties.
Restaurant reservations can be made on the Restaurant Weeks website or by calling the restaurants directly. More than 40 are participating in Providence, and others in the cities of Barrington, Bristol, Cranston, East Greenwich, East Providence, Lincoln, South Kingstown and Warwick, as well as Seekonk, Mass.
