With Book of Lists, go beyond headlines

Posted 1/21/13

Included with this week’s edition is the annual Book of Lists, PBN’s premier special publication. We believe there is no more accurate measure of the region’s economic activity than our yearly snapshot of its enterprises and business leaders.

But starting last year, we began naming the previous year’s 10 Most Influential People in the business community. This year’s list has three repeat winners – The Washington Trust Co. Chairman, CEO and President Joseph J. MarcAurele, CVS Caremark Corp. CEO and President Larry J. Merlo and The Rhode Island Foundation CEO and President Neil D. Steinberg. All of them topped their 2011 performances to earn their way back on the list.

Also on the list is former Red Sox star pitcher and founder of ill-fated 38 Studios LLC Curt Schilling. Yes, his venture is costing the state $100 million plus. But it is also expected to have a largely negative effect on economic development efforts in the state.

So after you read this week’s edition of PBN, settle in for a deep dive into the Book of Lists. It will be worth the effort. •
