With new event comes extra excitement for R.I.

It’s exciting when Providence Business News starts a new initiative, in this case the Fastest-Growing and Innovative Companies recognition program. And in a very real sense, this may be the most exciting one we do.
By definition, the fastest-growing companies are doing something very right. With growth rates that range from nearly 7,000 percent in our smallest revenue category (for Peregrine Property Management) to 678 percent for the $5 million to $25 million winner, Alex and Ani LLC, to the fastest-growing company with revenue greater than $25 million, American Partners Inc., it is clear that Rhode Island can be a springboard for business success, difficult business environment be damned.
And in combining the fastest-growing companies with the state’s innovators, this program helps shine a spotlight not only on the talent contained in Little Rhody, but on ventures that could wind up on the fastest-growing list in the not-too-distant future.
One innovative company that sticks in my mind is Petro-Cycle Solutions LLC, the winner in the Energy & the Environment category. Its solution to the very toxic byproduct of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, the technique that is being used to open up massive reserves of oil and natural gas across the country, should go a long way to making the practice more sustainable, and thus help the United States in its quest to be free of foreign energy sources.
In fact, all the innovative companies have a great story to tell, as do the fastest-growing enterprises. Just turn the pages and read them, and I’m sure you’ll agree.
Helping PBN get this program off the ground is presenting sponsor CBIZ Tofias, while our partner sponsors are Bryant University, Corvias Group, Edwards Wildman, Gencorp, Innovex and Taco Inc. Media sponsor is AM790.
