Woonsocket hardware store transformed into housing, market plaza

WOONSOCKET – Rhode Island elected officials, community agencies and corporate partners joined together Monday to celebrate the completion of renovations at 40 S. Main St., a former hardware store transformed into six apartments, a kitchen incubator space and a public market plaza.
The project was completed by NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley, a community development corporation.
The site was the former home of Mulvey’s Hardware, which supplied orders to more than 30 local factories, according to a news release. Vacant since 2003, the former building was converted into a mixed-use facility through a $3.3 million project.
