Wound Care Center recognized for excellence in wound healing

WAKEFIELD – The South County Health Wound Care Center has been recognized with a national award for continued excellence in wound healing and for clinical excellence by Healogics Inc., the nation’s leading and largest wound care management company, the center announced March 1.

For eight consecutive years, the South County Health Wound Care Center has received the Robert Warriner III MD Center of Excellence Award as well as a Center of Distinction Award.

To meet the criteria for the Center of Excellence Award, the Wound Care Center achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent, a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 31 median days, along with several other quality standards for two years in a row. The center received the Center of Distinction Award by meeting the same criteria for 12 consecutive months.

Across the country, 334 centers were eligible and 169 centers were honored with the Center of Excellence Award, while 334 of the 630 eligible centers nationwide received the Center of Distinction Award, in 2017, according to South County Health.

The South County Health Wound Care Center was established in 2004 and since then has seen thousands of patients with non-healing wounds. A non-healing wound is one that has not responded to standard medical treatment; they can be caused by diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, venous disease, pressure ulcers, lymphedema, burns, surgical incisions, chronic inflammation, or other conditions.
