PROVIDENCE – Ximedica LLC appointed Randall S. Barko the new president and CEO of the Providence-based medical product development company.
Barko moved into the corner office on Monday, succeeding founding President and CEO Stephen Lane.
Lane will assume the role of chairman and chief venture officer, focusing on growth.
“The decision to appoint Randy to this role is as significant as it is deliberate” Lane said in prepared remarks, “Ximedica is committed to meeting the complex demands of the health care industry today. Randy’s experience and deep understanding of both the medical landscape and our organization’s ethos will be key drivers in our future growth.”
Barko has served as an executive adviser to Ximedica for the past three years and has more than 30 years of experience fostering the growth of medical device and health care organizations.
Currently, Barko serves on the board of directors of several privately owned companies and is involved with private equity and venture capital groups.
“I am extremely excited about the opportunity to lead the global team at Ximedica,” said Barko in a statement.
“I appreciate the challenges and opportunities we, along with the rest of the Health care Industry, are facing today,” he added. “I believe that Ximedica has the capability and expertise to take advantage of this changing environment and become an even greater resource to our global clients.”
Prior to joining Ximedia, Barko was vice president of corporate development at Flextronics and corporate vice president of marketing and business development at Nypro Inc.
