Young to head Citizens’ digital banking

PROVIDENCE – Lamont Young, a digital and marketing veteran, has taken over as head of digital at Citizens Bank.
The Providence-based subsidiary of Citizens Financial Group Inc. announced Young will oversee the bank’s strategic investment in digital, online and mobile banking, digital marketing, user experience and social media. He was also named to the executive committee for Citizens consumer bank, according to a press release.
“Our digital capabilities are increasingly important to our customers and to our businesses,” said Beth Johnson, chief marketing officer and head of consumer strategy for Citizens, in a prepared statement. “To meet our customers’ evolving needs, we are continuing to optimize our digital strategy and distribution capabilities to enable them to able to bank when, where and how they want. Lamont’s breadth of experience in digital and marketing will be pivotal to helping us move forward in this space.”
Young previously served as senior vice president of digital and direct marketing, which he held since joining the bank in 2012, according to the release. He also worked at Bank of America, and founded a firm that provided web and design services to small business. He received his bachelor’s degree in science from Pen State University and a master of business administration from Winthrop University, according to the release.
