Youth entrepreneurs win seed funding at Young Social Innovators event

PROVIDENCE – On Tuesday night, youth teams pitched their social enterprise ideas at the Young Social Innovators Pitch and Graduation Ceremony at the MET School’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in hopes of winning $1,000 in seed funding.

Five teams were awarded seed funding at Tuesday night’s event:

  • 4Peace - a team of 4 students from the Community Prep school that plans on hosting an afterschool program that empowers youth to express themselves through various literature media.

  • Hard Rock Productions - disturbed by school cut-backs ending music programs, these two students intend to expose elementary school students to quality music programming, lessons, music theory and history.

  • Luah Beah intends to replace the “ugliness” of abandoned building and graffiti throughout Providence with beautiful mosaics, created as part of a youth alternative art summer program.
