Account executive, ‘news junkie’ joins RDW

Robin Erickson, a public affairs specialist, has joined Providence-based RDW Group Inc. as an account executive. She previously worked for the American Red Cross Rhode Island chapter, where she served as spokesperson and handled external communications, fund raising and media inquiries. Prior to the Red Cross, Erickson was assistant director of alumni relations at Roger Williams University. She lives in North Providence.

PBN: What qualities make for a good public relations officer?
ERICKSON: I’m a news junkie. I always have the news on and I enjoy working with the media. It is important to be aware of what is going on in the world and that translates into what I do for my clients at RDW. Knowing as much as possible about your client is key to providing them the best services possible.

PBN: What attracted you to RDW?
ERICKSON: The agency has such a great reputation, not only for their outstanding achievements, but for the quality of their employees and the positive work environment.

PBN: What is your favorite part of your job?
ERICKSON: After spending years in the nonprofit world, it’s nice to have the support of a full-service agency where there are creative, interactive and media professionals to lend their expertise. We truly work as a team here.

PBN: What type of projects will you work on at RDW?
ERICKSON: I am providing public relations and event management for Bank Rhode Island around the opening of their new bank branches as well as promotional assistance on the Rhode Island Resource Recovery account. I am also lucky enough to work on the Blue Cross & Blue Shield Community Heroes program. Having worked on it while at the Red Cross, I know it is an amazing program.
