In UnitedHealthcare’s annual list of America’s healthiest states, the America’s 2013 Health Rankings, Rhode Island slid three spots to No. 19 from its adjusted 2012 ranking at No. 16. The study, released Wednesday, found that the Ocean State ranked in the top 10 on three of 30 measures, but ranked poorly on measures such as drug deaths, preventable hospitalizations and socioeconomic health disparity. more

Rhode Island’s state debt per capita of $8,769 for fiscal year 2012 ranks third-highest in the United States, according to the Tax Foundation’s 2014 “Facts and Figures” report released Wednesday. The annual report compiles tax and collections data for each of the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, and ranks each state on 39 different measures of tax and fiscal policy. more
