Vittoria Pacifico-DeBenedictis, president of Bay View Academy, was selected as one of the 2015 Three Wise Women by the National Organization of Italian Women. Pacifico-DeBenedictis was born in Avellino, Italy, and she moved to Massachusetts when she was 7. She has had a longstanding career in Catholic education, beginning as a middle school teacher in South Boston. She soon moved from teaching to administration, where she held several leadership roles in Catholic schools around Massachusetts. Pacifico-DeBenedictis is involved with NEASC, serving as a chairperson, commission member and speaker. She holds a master’s degree in school administration from Emmanuel College and she is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where she is pursuing her degree in leadership in urban education. Pacifico-DeBenedictis will be honored on Jan. 27, during the organization’s Rhode Island Epiphany Celebration. more
The financial debacle that has befallen Russia as the price of Brent crude dropped 50 percent in the last four months has overshadowed the one that potentially awaits the U.S. shale industry in 2015.
