Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee will kick-off the March for Meals Campaign on behalf of the Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island on March 4 at 11 a.m. at the nonprofit’s offices on Bath Street with a proclamation announcement before he delivers hot and nutritious meals to homebound seniors.

Volunteers Marina Palumbo, 17, of East Greenwich, and Cody Clarkin, 14, of Charlestown, have been selected as Rhode Island’s top two youth volunteers of 2013 by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism. Both students will receive $1,000, an engraved silver medallion and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C.

Oliver Hazard Perry Rhode Island has announced that the SSV Oliver Hazard Perry, which the nonprofit is building as Rhode Island’s official sailing education vessel, has been granted a permanent home on the north side of a new pier being built as part of improvements at Fort Adams State Park.
