PROVIDENCE – Nonprofit arts group AS220 has announced that it will open a new restaurant this Friday at its 115 Empire St. headquarters.
The Restaurant at AS220 will take over the street-level space formerly occupied by the Mexican restaurant Taqueria Pacifica, which closed on Sept. 30, AS220 said in a message posted Wednesday on Facebook.
AS220 has hired Guy Michaud to manage the new restaurant, which will have a menu including “spinach, roasted sweet potato, and walnut empanadas, and chili prima pasta, pulled pork, parsnips, local rapini and Atwells Gold cheese.”
Food prices will range from $1 to $8. The restaurant will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
AS220 said the restaurant would be guided by a similar mission as the arts group’s other activities, with an emphasis on locally-grown ingredients and seasonal menu changes. The restaurant will also have a full-time vegan chef, Justin Earsing.
The restaurant will also train three young people in the culinary business in six-month installments.
A grand opening “Hail Seitan” event will take place next Friday, Nov. 13, starting at 6 p.m. It will feature a buffet for $6.66.
