FM Global gets OK to expand in Malaysia

JOHNSTON – FM Global plans to expand its reinsurance business into Labuan, a federal territory in Malaysia, the company announced this week.

The global insurance company said it received the approvals required to operate from regional insurance regulator Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority. The approval was granted to FM Insurance Company Ltd., which conducts business under the name FM Global.

FM Global has operated in Asia for more than 25 years and runs 62 offices around the globe. Labuan has long been known as a financial center and a city friendly to international companies, the company said.
