More than 400 coats were delivered to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence to help families in need stay warm this winter, thanks to the annual “Coats for Coffee” drive.
The November drive, a partnership between Seven Stars Bakery and Courtesy Cleaners, took place over a two-week span at the end of October, where members of the community dropped off donations of new and gently used coats to Seven Stars and Courtesy Cleaners across the state. Everyone who donated a coat received a voucher for a free cup of locally brewed coffee from Seven Stars.
“Many of our clubs’ members come from economically disadvantaged households who are struggling during these challenging economic times,” said Nicole Dufresne, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence. “The ongoing commitment of Seven Stars Bakery and Courtesy Cleaners to coordinate this effort – along with the generous response from the community – truly makes a difference for hundreds of local families.”
Courtesy Cleaners also donated the cleaning of each garment to prepare the coats for their new homes. The drive has collected more than 2,500 coats for distribution to children and adults through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence since its inception in 2008. •
