Family Beach Party DUCK RACE

The DUCK RACE 2012 is a raffle based family fun event held at Third Beach in Middletown, RI on Third Beach Road (by the boat ramp). The event will be held Thursday July 12, 2012 at 5pm to 8pm. The Family Beach Party includes THE DUCK RACE RAFFLE, pizza and water, DEL’S Lemonade truck, DJ music, and games and crafts for children.

The DUCK RACE 2012 is operated by Middletown Education Collaborative with primary sources of funding obtained from corporate sponsors, revenue from raffles ticket sales and general donations.

Raffle tickets are sold for $10 each. The ticket entitles the bearer to an assigned duck with a number which then races on the waves at Third Beach on July 12, 2012. With 1000 ducks in all the chances or 10/1000 that bearer will win a prize. The weighted rubber ducks are released into a holding area in the ocean and let go simultaneously to race down a course marked out by the race committee. The first 10 ducks in order to cross the finish line win the association prize. The Grand Prize is $1,000, second prize is $350 and third prize is $150. The remaining prizes from 4th to 10th place are themed gift baskets filled with items donated by area businesses.

Raffle tickets may be purchased through MEC’s website mecmec.org, from board members or at the event.

The DUCK RACE 2012 proceeds all benefit the Middletown Education Collaborative and to support our mission. The majority of the proceeds are given to Middletown Education Collaborative for its grants to benefit Middletown students.
