Movies on the Rocks: The Lion King

A talented crew of more than 600 artists, painters, designers and technicians worked more than three years to bring this spectacular story of the heroic lion Simba to the silver screen. A who’s who of Hollywood voices that includes Mathew Broderick, Jeremy Irons, Whoopi Goldberg and James Earl Jones, bring all of the colorful characters to life. Rated G; 87 minutes; 1994.

newportFILM will show a family-friendly short (up to 10 minutes in length) prior to each screening.

Movies are shown in the quarry meadow off of Hazard Road. Seating is on the grass. Films begin at dusk (between 8:00 and 8:150 pm). Please allow 15 minutes to make your way down to the quarry meadow. Parking is available in the Rogers High School parking lot. Picnic dinners welcome. In the event of rain, the screening will be held the following evening. FREE
