E-Waste Drive held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 in East Greenwich yields company-record success.
Bridge Technical Solutions’ volunteer team, The Bridge Brigade, with volunteers from Office Recycling Solutions and First Lutheran Church of East Greenwich, were at it again. Bridge’s fourth e-Waste drive blew away past collections, amassing 7,877 pounds of TVs, monitors, computers, computer batteries, printers, VCRs, cables, wires, and more – 426 pounds more than the e-Waste Drive Bridge held this past April.
E-Waste continues to be a growing environmental issue, as electronic equipment and computers consistently end up in landfills. These materials can seep hazardous substances into the ground soil and drinking water. Bridge’s biannual e-Waste Drive tradition helps reduce the amount of electronic waste that ends up in our community landfills.
In addition to the positive environmental impact from recycling nearly four tons of electronics, $1,545 was raised in donations from participants. Bridge matched that contribution, and presented a total donation of $3,090 to Oceans of Grace, the outreach ministry of the First Lutheran Church of East Greenwich. Oceans of Grace works to help needy members of our community, their outreach activities centering around the three major themes of food, clothing and shelter.
The Bridge Brigade is proud to have collected more e-Waste and raised more donations last Saturday than from any of their previous drives. They would like to thank Aim High Academy, A2B Tracking Solutions and Brave River Solutions for their corporate participation and generous contributions that helped make this event such a success. The next Bridge e-Waste Drive will be held in the spring of 2013.
