PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – For the fifth year in a row, Minuteman Press Providence-Warwick is lending support to the Ronald McDonald House of Providence Women’s Classic: Amgen 5K & Cardi’s Furniture 3K Walk. Proceeds for the Classic support programs that improve the health and well-being of hospitalized children and their families.

In addition to participating in the actual run, the local printer is providing its services for posters, postcards, programs and the sponsor brochure. Minuteman Press Providence-Warwick has sponsored the Ronald McDonald House Women’s Classic 5K since its inception in 2008.

The women-only event will take place in Providence on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 10am starting from the Brown University Stadium through the scenic and historic East Side of Providence and finishing in Olympic style on the Brown University Track.

Origins of Ronald McDonald House began in the mid-1980’s when a group of concerned individuals from Women & Infants’ and Rhode Island Hospitals met to discuss the issue of parents and relatives sleeping on hospital chairs overnight in order to be closer to their children. This initial conversation sparked much interest. Through the hard work of many and with generous community support, the Ronald McDonald House of Providence was created.
The House opened its doors on November 6, 1989.
