PROVIDENCE, R.I. ? In early March, The Providence Journal rolled out 11 mobile, touch-screen employment kiosks at workforce centers, colleges/universities and public libraries throughout southeastern New England, giving employers an additional advertising venue in which to reach jobseekers.

Similar to the paper?s print and online projoJobs listings, the kiosk terminals display the latest, help-wanted listings and career fairs. The employment kiosks post job openings for 14 days giving jobseekers an opportunity to freely view, generate a terminal printout, e-mail or apply for a position in less than four-minutes. Employment applications filed through the projoJobs kiosks go by e-mail or facsimile, the following day, to employers.

During the first three weeks of operation, over 3,200 people have used a projoJobs kiosk and viewed nearly 40,000 employment ads at the 11 machines located throughout the Providence, RI-New Bedford, Mass. marketplace. A locator map of the current locations is available online at projoJobs.com/kiosks. For information about the projoJobs kiosks, call 401.277.7125 or e-mail mperrotti@projo.com.
