Quality Partners of Rhode Island (Quality Partners) is pleased to announce the following promotions within our organization:

As part of our work on the 9th Statement of Work with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Quality Partners of Rhode Island works with physician offices, nursing homes, hospitals and home health agencies to improve the quality of care received by patients.

Brenda Jenkins, RN, D.Ay, leads our Prevention Team. The overall goal of our Prevention project is to improve the quality and frequency of preventive health care services through an electronic health record (EHR) system. We have the pleasure of working with a select group of physician practices across the state to improve preventative health care rates using electronic health records (EHRs) in the following areas:

• Mammography Screening
• Colorectal Cancer Screening
• Influenza Immunizations
• Pneumonia Immunizations

Nelia Silva Odom, RN, BSN, MBA/MHA and Maureen Marsella, RN, BS, CCM, CPC work with Quality Partners’ Patient Safety Team, which is a part of CMS’ National Patient Safety Initiative. As part of this initiative, Quality Partners works with hospitals and nursing homes to improve:

• Healthcare-associated Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) Infections (Hospitals)
• Pressure Ulcers (Nursing Homes and Hospitals)
• Physical Restraints (Nursing Homes)
• Inpatient Surgical Safety and Heart Failure Treatment (Hospitals)
• Drug Safety (Nursing Homes and Hospitals)

Susan Midwood, BA uses her talent as a teacher with Quality Partners’ adult education work, including contracts with the Department of Education and Department of Labor & Training and Career Help for the Upwardly Mobile (CHUM-RI). CHUM is an educational and occupational program designed by Quality Partners to improve leadership and workforce issues within the Rhode Island nursing home industry. CHUM-RI tailors adult basic education and English literacy programs to learners’ starting points. The end goal is to provide appropriate instruction in basic academic skills, leading to increased English literacy, numeracy, and a General Education Diploma (GED).
