WARWICK, Rhode Island – William J. Riley Plumbing & Heating Co., Inc. today announced the company celebrates its thirty-fifth year as a family-owned business serving residential and commercial customers throughout Rhode Island.

Founded in April 1977 by William J. Riley, Riley Plumbing & Heating began as a home-based business in a garage in Warwick. Initial success as a service contractor for large condominium projects solidified the company within the plumbing industry. In 1987, Riley Plumbing & Heating moved from the home garage to a commercial building in Warwick.

Six years later, as the industry slowly recovered from the banking crisis of the early nineties, Riley Plumbing & Heating made a strong shift into the service and repair market. The lack of new construction in the region made essential a change in focus. Lean management enabled Riley Plumbing & Heating to survive the economic downturn as it increased service crews, fleet vehicles, and productivity.

“We realized in 2008 that we needed more space,” said Liz Muzzy, Operations Director of Riley Plumbing & Heating. “So, the hunt was on for a new location in Warwick.”

In early 2009, the company relocated to its present location at 15 New England Way outside the Apponaug area. The existing building provided an opportunity for owner William Riley to install radiant heating, a long-time wish.

Green energy solutions dominated plans for the new building. Snow melt was installed in the front steps and a section of the driveway. Solar panels were installed to maximize the radiant floor and domestic hot water. The carpet tiles are made from reclaimed carpet. The light fixtures are low energy. The concrete removed was recycled. Recycled asphalt was used for the driveway material. The paint contained no VOC’s. High efficiency toilets were installed.

“Using our own building as an example, we are able to design and install similar energy and cost saving systems in our customer’s homes and businesses,” said Muzzy.

Today, Riley Plumbing & Heating provides a full service approach to commercial and residential plumbing repairs and new installations; backflow preventer testing and installation; boiler repairs and replacements – both oil and gas – radiant heating system design and installation; and the company is an authorized Bradford White Water Heater service agent.

“Our family business has grown and we are very proud of all our employees,” said William Riley. “We continue to survive the ups and downs of a changing marketplace and move forward using new technologies and education to better serve our customers and employees.”

Fully licensed and insured, Riley Plumbing & Heating is renowned for expert advice, professional technicians, and quality workmanship for commercial, residential, industrial and contract work.

  1. Well explained information about DWV System, I also experienced this problem and I tried to fix it alone but the results all goes wrong but since I employed the service of Haendiges Plumbing my water system turns productive again. It’s better to leave those pipe problems to the experts to prevent further damage.
