On Saturday mornings from March 21-April 11, 2009, the Bradford Jonnycake Center of Westerly, in conjunction with The Education Exchange, will offer the four session seminar, “Engaging in an Effective Job Search.” This seminar will provide attendees with the tools and strategies necessary to engage in an effective job search. Each week will focus on essential elements of the job search process, including:

March 21, 2009: Identifying Job Goals
In this session, attendees will identify work skills and how to apply them to today’s labor market. There will also be a review of the available resources to obtain job and salary information related to specific occupations.

March 28, 2009: Finding the Job
The second week will be devoted to reviewing the resources available for identifying job leads and ways to tap into the “hidden job market”.

April 4, 2009: Applying for the Job
In this session, attendees will learn strategies to complete paper and online job applications (including who should be listed as a reference). There will also be a discussion of effective ways to answer questions about gaps in employment, terminations, and other tough issues that may impact being hired.

April 11, 2009: Getting the Job
In the final week, attendees will prepare for the job interview, both physically and mentally. A mock interview process will be used to review the typical questions asked by employers and how to answer them.

Each session will be held at the Bradford Jonnycake Center of Westerly and will run from 9:00AM–12:00PM. The seminar will be led by Stephanie Hart Nowell, founder and managing partner of Occupational Resource Network, Inc., a firm providing vocational consultation and job placement services. Ms. Hart Nowell holds a masters degree and a certificate of advanced graduate study in rehabilitation counseling from Assumption College.
