PROVIDENCE – Looking for a “rowdy” place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? Rhode Islanders are in luck.

CandyStore.com, an online candy retailer, said Rhode Island, despite its tiny size, is one of the rowdier states for St. Patrick’s Day.

States are ranked according to their St. Patrick’s Day pride based on their number of 2017 parades with the most candy-collecting prospects, and how much beer they drink.

CandyStore.com based rowdiness on three tiers – with rowdiest (New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut fall into this category) at the top, followed by rowdy (Rhode Island and California) in the middle and “kinda rowdy” (Texas, Nebraska) in the last tier. Tame states include Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

“You take St. Paddy’s day seriously!” CandyStore.com said about the Ocean State.
“While your coastline is always reminiscent of Ireland, your annual parades make sure the spirit of St. Patrick and the boisterous culture of Ireland are felt too … it definitely hits St. Paddy’s Day out of the park with a leprechaun-themed 5K in the morning and lots of celebrating in the afternoon with beer, marching, music and good Gaelic grub,” the website stated about Rhode Island.
