PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority for the fifth year in a row has received a certificate of excellence in financial reporting.
The recognition was given by the Government Finance Officers Association, a professional association.
The certificate is “the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” according to a letter to RIPTA.
The order is given to organizations that have demonstrated “spirit of full disclosure,” and commitment to clearly communicating a government or government agency’s financial story, according to a press release.
Raymond Studley, RIPTA CEO, said the recognition is a testament to the organization’s finance department and Board of Directors’ support for “maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in the management of RITPA’s finances.”
