Taco buys electronic-control maker Innovex
“THE ADDITION of the Innovex Technologies product line is consistent with Taco’s strategy to expand its electronics product offering and our continued focus on system selling,” said Taco Inc. President and CEO John Hazen White Jr.

CRANSTON – John Hazen White Jr., president and CEO of Taco Inc., today announced that his company has acquired the assets of Innovex Technologies LLC of Lewiston, Maine. Financial details were withheld.

The move will allow the Cranston manufacturer to expand its product line and “create value for our customers,” White said.

Innovex was founded in Pittsburgh in 1995. It is the manufacturer of intelligent building systems (IBS), including standalone control devices and accessories, that offer a complete climate-control solution for residential and light commercial buildings, Taco said.

“The addition of the Innovex Technologies product line is consistent with Taco’s strategy to expand its electronics product offering and our continued focus on system selling,” White said in a statement. “This is another way in which Taco will create value for our customers, further diversify the Taco product line and continue to move away from the industry’s tendency of simply selling cast iron by the pound.”

The Innovex product line comprises a range of standalone and integrated control products that self-configure at the push of a button and provide for full Internet connectivity using the LonWorks communications protocol, the Maine company says on its Web site. Besides control of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC), its iWorX products can be used to control electrical or BTU metering, injection mixing, lighting, and card-reader access.

White said the acquisition will provide Taco with “a technology platform that will incorporate our existing line of pumps, hydronic controls and electronic control products, along with our unique LoadMatch single-pipe heating and cooling system, into a networked controls solution” to provide comfort in an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly way.

“This is a huge opportunity for Taco, its employees and the industry as a whole,” he said.

The company announcement did not reveal financial or other details of the transaction. And a Taco spokesman told PBN that “we have decided not to disclose the price paid for the acquisition.”

Taco Inc. is an ISO 9001 registered manufacturer of heating and cooling components for use with hydronic-based systems worldwide. The company supplies a wide range of products for residential, commercial and industrial applications. To learn more, visit taco-hvac.com.
