WARREN – Blount Clam Shack is the best place for “cheap eats” in Rhode Island, according to Travel + Leisure, which recently unveiled its picks for the “best cheap eats in every state.”
Blount, which serves traditional New England-style seafood at its seasonal shack, was chosen by Ali Khan, host of the Cooking Channel’s Cheap Eats. Blount’s half-pound lobster roll or nine-inch fried clam strips roll are not to be missed, according to Khan.
The eatery’s website explained the Blount family’s participation in the local fishing industry stretches back to the 1880s. The current waterfront property was bought by a member of the family in 1943 and has continuously processed clams.
Blount Clam Shack soups are served at restaurants across the U.S. and are available for purchase at multiple retail locations.
Singh’s Roti Shop – out of Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood – took honors in Massachusetts for its spiced flatbread sandwiches.
Khan found the mussel chowder at Bobette’s Take Out in Milford, Conn., was something to write home about and listed the restaurant as the best in the Nutmeg State.
