100 Westminster construction completed

PROVIDENCE – Construction has wrapped up at 100 Westminster, where O’Connor Capital Partners had been renovating the lobby, transforming it from a “mall-like” aesthetic to a modern environment complete with Italian marble floors, construction manager Shawmut Design and Construction announced.
The project also includes custom millwork, renovated tenant store fronts and a glass curtain wall exterior. The redesign, by Cambridge Seven Associates Inc., also brought the building into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Shawmut reported.
“The lobby now provides a more graceful entrance for office tenants, while new exterior retail entrances have created a more welcoming environment for shoppers,” according to Shawmut.
The 340,700-square-foot building, managed by MPM Property Management LLC, had been about 85 percent occupied before construction started, MPM President John Macliver told Providence Business News in October. (READ MORE) He added that the goal was to have a vacancy rate of 5 percent or smaller.
O’Connor had purchased the building in 2006 and rebranded it as 100 Westminster. The 20-story, 24-year-old building had formerly been known as both the Fleet Center and 50 Kennedy Plaza. (READ MORE)
