15 local firms among Inc. fastest-growing

NEW YORK – Twelve Rhode Island-based companies and three from Bristol County, Mass., are among the nation’s 5,000 fastest-growing firms, according to a new listing by Inc. Magazine.
One – The Corporate Marketplace Inc., or TCMPI, a membership-based wholesaler of jewelry, name brand giftware and music that has its headquarters in North Kingstown – also made the magazine’s Inc. 500, the annual entrepreneurial listing of which the new Inc. 5,000 Index is an expanded version.
Other Rhode Island firms in the Inc. 5,000 were The LJ Cos., Carousel Industries, Fuel Belt, Advertising Ventures, Lighthouse Computer Services, Systems Engineering Associates, Atrion Networking, All Occasion Transportation, Bridge Technical Solutions, Advanced Financial Services and Gencorp. Bristol County firms on the Inc. 5,000 are Universal Label Technologies, Pioneer Basement Waterproofing and Artcraft.
(Other companies with local operations that made the list include Worldways Social Marketing of Greenwood, Colo., at No. 2281, which has an office on Chestnut Street in the Jewelry District.)
The rankings are based on percentage revenue growth from 2003 through 2006.Only independent, U.S.-based companies that began generating revenue by the first week of 2003 are eligible; 2003 revenue must have been at least $200,000.
