2 new members named to Beacon Mutual board

WARWICK – Raymond C. Coia and Michael J. Ruggieri, both of Cranston, have been named to the board of directors of The Beacon Mutual Insurance Co. by Gov. Donald L. Carcieri, replacing George H. Nee and Henry Boeniger, whose terms expired Nov. 29.
In addition, R.I. State Police Maj. Brendan P. Doherty, whom the governor first named to the board 11 months ago, has been reappointed.
Coia, a lawyer, is president of Local 271 of Laborers’ International Union of America, and a coordinator for the New England Laborers’
Tri-Funds in Providence. He is a member of the board of Rhode Island Legal Services and serves on the R.I. Workers’ Compensation Governor’s Advisory Council and the R.I. Coastal Resources Management Council.
Ruggieri, a former ironworker, is president of the 17-union Rhode Island Building & Construction Trades Council; the secretary of BuildRI, where he is also an executive committee board member; second vice president of the New England District Council of Ironworkers, and business manager for Iron Workers Union Local 37, in East Providence.
