South County Hospital’s Medical Staff Office is seeking applicants for the 2007 Conrad-Nestor Scholarship.

The Scholarship, awarded annually to children or grandchildren of South County Hospital employees, is intended to assist a graduating high school senior in his or her future endeavors toward a healthcare profession, including such diverse areas as medicine, dentistry, nursing or physical therapy, for example.

The Conrad-Nestor Scholarship is presented annually in conjunction with numerous Medical Staff Scholarships. The initial screening process for the applicants is performed by the student’s teachers and is based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and a 500 word essay, in addition to the individual’s expressed interest in a health profession career. The selection of the finalist is based on the decision of the Medical Staff Scholarship Committee. Schools are encouraged to nominate their top candidates with an emphasis on academic performance. This final selection process includes a brief interview at the Hospital. Prior to the interview, a transcript of the finalists’ grades, national exam scores, and two letters of recommendations are forwarded to the Committee. Dr. David Chronley is the Chairman of the Medical Staff Scholarship Committee.

All applications must be received by the Medical Staff Office by May 1, 2007. For more information, please contact Deborah Jackman at 788-1466.
