4 R.I. companies place on 2019 Fortune 500 list

PROVIDENCE – Four Rhode Island companies made the 2019 Fortune 500 list while seven Rhode Island companies were among the Fortune 1000, according to the magazine this week.

Fortune 500 Rhode Island businesses:

  • CVS Health Corp. ranked No. 8 this year, a one-spot decline year over year. The company was the highest-ranked enterprise in Rhode Island with revenue of $194.6 billion.
  • Textron Inc. ranked second highest of Rhode Island-headquartered companies at No. 229 with revenue of $14 billion. The company ranked No. 208 in 2018.
  • The third-highest ranked Rhode Island-headquartered company was United Natural Foods Inc. at No. 310 with revenue of $10.2 billion. The company ranked No. 319 in last year.
  • Citizens Financial Group Inc. ranked No. 415 with revenue of $7.4 billion. The company ranked No. 435 in 2018.

Fortune 1000 Rhode Island companies:

  • FM Global ranked No. 512 with revenue of $5.4 billion. The company ranked No. 534 in 2018.
  • Hasbro Inc. ranked No. 567 with revenue of $4.6 billion. The company ranked No. 513 one year prior.
  • Amica Mutual Insurance Co. ranked No. 823 with revenue of $2.7 billion. The company ranked No. 812 last year.

Companies with major regional operations named to the Fortune 500 this year:

  • UnitedHealth Group – No. 6 with revenue of $226.2 billion
  • Verizon Communications Inc. – No. 19 with revenue of $130.9 billion
  • General Electric Co. – No. 21 with revenue of $120.3 billion
  • Bank of America Corp. – No. 25 with revenue of $110.6 billion
  • Johnson & Johnson – No. 37 with $81.6 billion in revenue
  • MetLife – No. 44 with revenue of $67.9 billion
  • General Dynamics Corp. – No. 92 with revenue of $36.2 billion
  • Raytheon Co. – No. 114 with revenue of $27.1 billion
  • Amgen Inc. – No. 129 with revenue of $23.7 billion
  • CBRE Group Inc. – No. 146 with revenue of $21.3 billion
  • Eversource Energy – No. 358 with $8.4 billion in revenue
  • Booz Allen Hamilton – No. 475 with a revenue of $6.2 billion

Companies with major local operations named to the Fortune 1000 this year:

  • Tiffany & Co. – No. 583 with revenue of $4.4 billion
  • Sinclair Broadcast Group – No. 751 with revenue of $3.1 billion

Overall, Walmart ranked No. 1 this year on the list with revenue of $514.4 billion. Apple was determined to be the most profitable company of all Fortune 500 companies this year.
