PROVIDENCE – The American Institute of Architects’ Rhode Island chapter last month announced the winners of its 2008 design awards.
Honor Awards:
• William Kite Architects Inc. (www.kitearchitects.com), for a private residence a private residence in Lincoln.
• 3Six0 Architecture & Design (www.3Six0.com), for the North Chapel addition to Shepherd of the Valley Church, in the Scituate village Hope, as well as for The Achilles Project (achilles-project.com/), a retail center in Boston.
Merit Awards:
• Estes/Twombly Architects Inc. (www.estestwombly.com/), for its Swett House in Jamestown, and its Watkins House in Newport.
• Durkee, Brown, Viveiros & Werenfels Architects (www.durkeebrown.com/), for the adaptive reuses of the Dreyfus Hotel, in Providence, and 52 Valley St., Providence.
• William Kite Architects Inc., for the School of Architecture, Art and Historic Preservation (www.kitearchitects.com/project_pages/saahp.htm) at Roger Williams University in Bristol, and the interior of the firm’s Providence office (www.kitearchitects.com/project_pages/wka.htm).
