CRANSTON – Axion Business Technologies, an office equipment company, announced the acquisition of RPB Systems & Services based in Norwell, Mass.
It is Axion’s fifth purchase in the last eight years, having acquired Commercial Business, Copier Supply, Copyrite and Bruno’s.
“From a geography standpoint [RPB Systems & Services] was a nice contiguous acquisition,” said Robert Ferland, Axion CEO and founder, to Providence Business News. He declined to disclose the purchase price.
Axion covers Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. RPB also works in southeastern Massachusetts, but its primary markets are in Greater Boston, North Shore Boston and Worcester County.
“So it was a perfect overlap in terms of Axion getting into that Greater Boston marketplace,” Ferland said, while noting that they were able to keep about 90 percent of RPB staff. The combined headcount is now 50 people – 30 from RBP and 20 from Axion.
“The employees at RPB are top-quality individuals and have earned a great reputation from their dedicated client relationships, which exceeds 2,000 accounts,” he added.
RPB is a Konica-Minolta and Ricoh dealer.
