  1. Thanks for this excellent RI recap! While Maryland rolled out their formal “CyberMaryland” economic development initiative in 2012, RI State Police and its Cyber Disruption Team has done a commendable job sustaining and growing an informal RI ecosystem around the national grades 6-12 CyberPatriot competition. Members include reps from SecureWorks, Raytheon, National Grid, RI Air National Guard, Town of Middletown, URI, and Roger Williams University. I coached two successful rookie middle school teams — one male, one female – from All Saints STEAM Academy in Middletown and was amazed at their problem-solving abilities during each of the six hour competitions. I’d encourage more RI schools — especially middle schools — to field CyberPatriot teams for next season. Team registration opens April 1 and exhibition rounds will be available.
