PROVIDENCE – GTECH Corp. will be supplying the technology, equipment and software services for a new online lottery system in Madagascar, said Lottomatica Group, GTECH’s parent company, in a news release on Jan. 11.
The system is slated to launch in February, initially with a weekly jackpot lotto game.
GTECH has signed agreements with a consortium, including Lotwin Investments and its subsidiaries Reel Mada SA, Lottotech Management Ltd., Damalot Technical Services Ltd. and Gamlot Technologies Ltd.
“After our successful implementation last year for Loterie Nationale in Mauritius, GTECH was our logical choice to provide the technology and support for our project in Madagascar,” said Lotwin CEO Jean-Pierre Desbiens.
Reel Mada and its affiliates have been authorized to operate an online lottery in Madagascar through contractual agreement with the Société d’Exploitation de Loterie, a quasi government-owned entity.
GTECH will provide the lottery’s central gaming system, 1,020 Altura lottery terminals. The primary and backup data centers will be located in Mauritius.
