PROVIDENCE – A “high impact but short in duration” storm is affecting the morning commute in Rhode Island, central and eastern Massachusetts.
Snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected and the National Weather Service has a winter storm warning in effect until 3 p.m.
Providence Public Schools are closed on Friday and the citywide parking ban is in effect until 6 p.m.

A snowfall rate of up to an inch an hour up to 10 a.m. and winds are estimated at 10 to 20 mph.
