CAN YOU IMAGINE your employer offering you and your spouse or “plus one” all-expenses paid trips each year?

That’s reality for the full-time team members at Zuzick Organization, an East Providence-based life insurance company and a franchise of Dallas-based Globe Life Inc. This year, 20 team members spent several days swimming with the dolphins and frolicking in the Pacific Ocean while in Hawaii. Next year, Las Vegas is the destination. Other trips are held throughout the year to accommodate team members’ family commitments and school vacations.

A few dinners and an awards ceremony are the only business obligations during these fully paid conventions; the balance of time during the four- or five-day trips is devoted to traditional vacation activities. With virtual operations, Zuzick Organization also hosts team-building trips, incentives and weekly training to maintain its culture.

“Everyone looks forward to these events, and every year it’s a different location,” company owner Brian Zuzick said. “Since adapting [from the COVID-19 pandemic] and everyone is now working virtually, we have more freedom [to engage in] very fun experiences … not only for our team members but also for their spouses or guests.”

Due to the pandemic, Zuzick Organization transitioning from a face-to-face business to a virtual business has been “a great experience” for its clients and team members, Zuzick said. That has helped Zuzick Organization to have double-digit revenue growth every year and staff for the past five years, he says.

Zuzick Organization is one of 100 Globe Life franchises. As Zuzick’s team members are promoted, they attend one of six leadership academies held annually in Texas to receive training from top-performing senior executives from Globe Life’s franchisees.

Zuzick describes his staff as caring, hardworking and having high character, while company senior partner Cherilynn Acevedo sees them as being family-oriented, growth-focused and competitive.

“We promote from within; that gives people the opportunity to grow within the organization, based on their own pace,” said Acevedo, who joined the organization as a benefits representative about four years ago. Zuzick has been Acevedo’s mentor since she began working at the organization, where everyone has four or five mentors.

“I’m forever grateful to have him as a mentor; he believed I’d get to where I am today,” said Acevedo, who now earns enough money to help support her family. “I now have the same opportunity to mentor and believe in other sales representatives to help them learn how to protect and help families.”

Zuzick also says his company does a lot of mind-body-spirit training. The company has mentorship training on all areas of life, including leadership training, weekly book clubs and hosts get-togethers for team members and their families.

Additionally, Zuzick Organization provides a full benefits package, including a paid gym membership for team members. Its mission is to help every person who comes into the organization became the best version of themselves mentally, physically, spiritually and financially.

Everyone employed by Globe Life and its franchisees are members of the Office and Professional Employees International Union Local 277, including Zuzick.

“Lots of perks come with that [union membership],” said Zuzick, who is proud that its deeply diverse workforce is integral to the company’s culture. “We always have had different races and ethnicities, and diversity issues are included in our annual ethics training.”

Through Globe Life’s Make Tomorrow Better Foundation, the Zuzick Organization regularly participates in Shoot for a Cure, a sporting clay shooting event that raises funds for March of Dimes and other charities.

“We donate every year to different charities, and we get our team members and clients involved with what charity is most important to them,” Acevedo said.
