PROVIDENCE – Joining social media, online shopping and burrito bowls is something else that is popular among millennials: family vacations.

A new AAA Travel study showed that 44 percent of millennials are planning a family vacation this year. In comparison, 39 percent of Generation X members and 32 percent of baby boomers are planning a family getaway.

Millennials are typically thought of as those born between 1982 and 2004, according to The Atlantic. Generation X was born between 1965 and 1984 while Baby Boomers were born between 1946 and 1964.

Overall, 88 million Americans plan to take a family vacation, according to the study. Of those who are planning a vacation, 35 percent have an international destination on their itinerary — a 9 percent increase from two years ago.
