AAA: R.I. gas prices bounce back above $3/gallon

PROVIDENCE – “After decreasing for the last five weeks, gasoline prices are up 3 cents,” AAA Southern New England said today.
AAA’s Feb. 18 survey of local stations found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.019 per gallon, 3 cents more than on Feb. 11. A year ago at this time, the average price in the Ocean State was $2.239.
Nationwide, the average price for regular unleaded rose 6 cents over the past week to $3.109, or 9 cents above this week’s Rhode Island price, the nonprofit auto club found.
The range in prices for self-serve regular unleaded at local stations narrowed to 11 cents, from $2.969 to $3.079. Wider ranges were seen for other grades of fuel, which had average self-serve prices of $3.159 for mid-grade unleaded; $3.259 for premium and $3.539 for diesel.
