NEW YORK – A Webster Bank checking account with fewer fees has been certified by a national nonprofit for meeting national standards for being safe and affordable, according to a news release.
With the certification from Cities for Financial Empowerment through its Bank on National Account Standards, the Webster Connect Checking Account will be offered in New York metro areas immediately, and across the entire company footprint in 2023, the release stated.
The checking account is designed to help those with limited or no bank access, with no overdraft or insufficient funds fee charges. The account also offers free mobile banking, ATMs, federally insured deposits and access to all digital banking services, the release stated.
The Bank On certification recognizes financial institutions for low-cost, high-functionality accounts that meet consumer safety standards. The program has certified 300 other accounts from financial institutions nationwide, the release stated.
