After-school programs added in Providence

PROVIDENCE – The Providence Public Library and the Providence After School Alliance have joined forces to offer five new after-school programs for middle-school children in the North End, East Side, West End, Olneyville and Lower South Providence AfterZones.

The programs began in January and involve physical fitness and healthy eating, poetry and rap, the natural environment, art and Anime.

“Providence Public Library has been and continues to be one of PASA’s very committed private partners,” said Hillary Salmons, director of PASA, in a news release. She added that PASA awarded the library $23,000 in grants this year with funds from The Wallace Foundation and Bank of America.
