PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island construction grew 13 percent year over year in November, the second-fastest rate in the country, according to an Associated General Contractors of America report released Friday.
The Ocean State added 2,400 jobs from November 2016 to November 2017 to 20,900 jobs.

Rhode Island construction grew at the fourth-fastest rate in the county for the month, growing 2.5 percent from October, or 500 jobs.
Construction employment stats for other New England states:
- New Hampshire construction employment grew at the third-fastest rate in the country, year over year, in November, increasing 10 percent, which accounted for 2,600 new construction jobs.
- Massachusetts ranked No. 3 for fastest construction employment in New England and No. 13 in the nation with a growth rate of 6 percent in November, a growth of 8,700 jobs year over year.
- Maine ranked fourth in New England, No. 33 in the nation with a construction employment growth rate of 2.2 percent year over year.
- Vermont ranked No. 5 in New England and No. 36 in the nation with a construction employment rate of 1.3 percent year over year.
- Connecticut ranked last in New England and No. 46 in the nation with a 1.7 percent decline in construction employment year over year, a loss of 1,000 construction jobs.
