Airport police chief leaves for undisclosed reasons

WARWICK – The T.F. Green Airport police chief has left the department for undisclosed reasons, WPRI-TV CBS 12 reported on May 23.

Stephen Cahill had been airport police chief since 2017, after previously serving as R.I. Airport Corp.’s second in command for the police department.

RIAC spokesperson Bill Fischer acknowledged Cahill had left the department effective May 22 but said in a statement, “RIAC does not comment on personnel matters.”

RIAC appointed Leo Messier to be the new police chief, a position he previously held for eight years, until he was promoted to chief public safety officer in 2017.

Fischer said the job Messier has left for his old position “is under assessment.”

Alan Andrade recently resigned as RIAC’s vice president of operations. RIAC said Andrade took a job with the state of Massachusetts.
