Alashan Cashmere Company is currently located at 411 Chapel Street in Harrisville in space 1/3 the size of the current building project.

Donald Fox, President, commented, “My wife Rachel and I are very proud to be able to expand our operation in Burrillville.  This company started out of our basement in Pascoag just over 10 years ago.  Since then we have moved twice and added 10 people to our staff.  This is our home and it is exciting to have the opportunity to create more jobs in this part of the state.  Despite all that the General Assembly does to discourage job creation in RI, the Town of Burrillville demonstrated just how local government can work hand-in-hand with small business to create job opportunities.  The work done by the Industrial Foundation of Burrillville, the Town Council and town administrators provided us an opportunity to stay in RI, when more attractive economic environments existed a few miles in either direction in Massachusetts and Connecticut.”

“The new building will provide us with 3,000 square feet to house our design suite and administrative offices.  The 10,000 square feet of warehouse space will more than triple our current space and provide us with the space to expand our production assortment.  The building is pre-approved for a 4,000 square foot expansion when we need more space.  We are planning to add staff once the new building is up.”

Alashan Cashmere Company specializes in the design, production, importation and distribution of cashmere apparel to specialty stores and boutiques across the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia.  The primary brands owned and distributed are Claudia Nichole, Caroline Grace and Alashan.  Local RI customers include: Ocean House (Westerly), Galapagos (Charlestown), Jackie’s Loft (Bristol), Angela Moore (Newport), Wendy Brown (Providence), and Feminine Fancies (Barrington).

Member of the press are welcome to attend the event.
